Is there enough work?

Did we mention business is pumping at the moment? We have been in a growth phase for over 2 years and the team is hitting record numbers consistently. Enough work will be the least of your concerns. We have WAY more workflow than we can manage, and have done for a long time. Our business model means strong long term client retention, and a continuous stream of referral business from those that are sick of transactional CV flickers. We are on all major Commonwealth Government recruitment panels, we work most ACT Government agencies through panels, and we have extensive, established relationships across the commercial, NFP and consulting sectors.

You have financial commitments, you may well have a family to provide for. You can’t afford a drop. We get it. But life’s too short to be around sh*t recruitment. And you need to feel you are progressing in your chosen profession, and doing meaningful work aligned with your values. We will find a way to ensure you are not worse off in making the move. High performers quickly get back up to earning bonuses in our structure. We are even open to guaranteed commissions for those with an impressive track record. Our bonus structure has been recently benchmarked. It is on par with the industry for average or below average performers, but for high performers we are in the top 10%. You can earn up to 45-50% of your GP above stretch targets. If we win, you win, and with full transparency. There are no sneaky big company clauses that leave you feeling ‘gouged’.

Moving to Canberra

Weird market?

A whole new market? And it’s that freaky Government market. What’s that all about? We won’t lie. Canberra has its market quirks. When >45% of people here are employed by Government, you are going to have to get your head around it. But don’t let a bunch of acronyms and weird employment levels daunt you. It is pretty logical and we have over 30+ year’s of Government recruitment experience to support you to learn quickly. We have exceptionally strong with Government. And we don’t work with everyone. We avoid the time wasters and unengaged panel work, focusing on long term relationships and adding value instead. Canberra also has a thriving private sector, huge NFP/NGO sector, and more consulting firms than you can poke a stick at. And don’t tell anyone, but the market is kind of ‘soft’. As in lower competition than Sydney and Melbourne recruitment markets… and there is nobody else doing recruitment our way. Come and see what we mean!

No pulse?

Some of our team grew up here, some did not. Team members that have come from interstate or overseas love it and assume it has always been like this. They think it is one of the world’s best kept secrets. I guess they missed how truly dull Canberra was in the 1980’s and 90’s. Things have changed. Even our ‘lifers’ have changed their minds and are Canberra lovers.

No network

No worries. You get to access a referral network through the safety of a very trusted brand. Your candidate network may take some time to build, but with a well maintained database of skilled, rated, annotated and reference checked talent… it doesn’t take long to start kicking goals.

Switching subject matter/methodologies

If we are offering you a job on the team, you are likely a really good recruiter. Whilst subject matter specialisation is the key to a quality recruitment service, we believe the core competencies around recruitment ‘craft’ remains constant. And consultants who have the right attitude can master new methodologies. So if you feel like a change of subject matter, or if the Canberra market doesn’t fit your background, change it up! If you are shifting from big agency recruitment or from a traditional recruitment practice, we will help you make the move a successful one. Our training and development will help you build some new skills, and break a few old habits if you need to. We will buddy you up with the best and maximise skills and knowledge transfer. Giving up an established desk makes you nervous
