Tian Roberts

Team Administrator

What is your work/career background and how has that shaped you for your current role?

I graduated in 2018 and went to work at Prime in the Commercial Media department. My job was to schedule commercials and to make sure that they met all the legal and compliance requirements for viewing times. I worked closely with the sales team to ensure we delivered for our clients. It was a fast-paced environment with a lot of moving parts and changes. Working with both internal teams and clients, I learned how to communicate well with a range of different people.

The role also taught me to be well organised with a high sense of detail and to stay calm under pressure. That experience equipped me well for my role in the Commercial team at HorizonOne.

What does your role involve?

As part of the Commercial team, we support the Consultants in their work with candidates This includes helping arrange interviews, registrations, candidate packs and resumes. We organise the documentation that confirms the candidate’s placement, start date and remuneration. In addition, our team works with our contractors to make sure their timesheets and payroll happens on time.

What do you like best about it?

I have a strong sense of achievement in my role. Every step has a purpose and the work that I do helps to make a real difference to the candidate’s and contractor’s experience with HorizonOne.

There is a strong focus to ensure the team members have balance. We work hard, but timeout is made regularly to have fun and connect with each other socially. This might be a ‘build a burger’ lunch in our breakout room or finishing work earlier for the whole team to go Ten Pin Bowling. I feel appreciated here and enjoy coming to work.

Is there something we might be surprised to learn about you?

I’m a musical theatre geek. I started dance and drama lessons when I was three, continuing through my teens, practicing and performing about 15 hours per week. This culminated in performing at Disney Land in ‘Dance around the World’. I no longer perform but go and see as many musicals as I can, often more than once. Some of my favourites are Jersey Boys, Kinky Boots, Hamilton, Mary Poppins and Moulin Rouge.

My Bucket List: spend two weeks in New York, attending a musical show on Broadway every night!

Who is the biggest stirrer in the office?

Both David and Andy for sure. Their funny stories and jokes during the workday really uplift the team.
