Team Administrator - Scribing & Campaigns Management

Sophie Patterson

How did you get here? Describe your career history and background that led you to your role at HorizonOne.

This is actually my first full-time job, prior to this I was studying Business Administration at the ANU, with a Major in Management and a Minor in Accounting.  Studying was something I really enjoyed, I participated in a variety of societies and I even got to travel overseas to Taiwan as a part of a scholarship there. Once I had finished my studies it was actually my dad who introduced me to HorizonOne, he had been placed in a role by David Harrington and thought HorizonOne might be able to help find me something. The team reviewed my CV and thought I would be a good fit for the Scribing & Campaigns Team which was expanding. Although I originally wasn’t familiar with what Scribing even was, I’m really glad they picked me for the job. It’s interesting, and keeps me really busy!

What does your role involve?

I’m currently assisting the Scribing & Campaigns team with various jobs including quotes, arranging interviews and confirming projects with our scribes. We have over 60 scribes Australia wide so it involves a lot of multitasking and it’s been great to chat to our scribes and get to know them.

What would you say is different about HorizonOne’s approach to recruitment?

Having used some other recruiters for my own job search, the biggest difference I see is the HorizonOne team always follows through and do what they say they will. We will even check in with candidates after they’ve started their job to check how they’re going and to make sure they’re happy in their new role, that extra level of service is a big difference I think.

What do you like best about your role?

The Scribing & Campaigns team is lovely and it has been really amazing to work with them, they’re all very supportive, hard-working professionals with a lot of experience. It really sets the bar high and I feel quite lucky to be given the opportunities to work alongside such great role models, especially in my first job.

Outside of work I love to…

My creative outlet is baking, specifically cupcakes which the HorizonOne team are all a big fan of. I even have an Instagram page where you can see all my creations. I’ve been practising Yoga for around 2 to 3 years, and I’ve recently tried Bouldering which is like rock climbing but without the harness, so a lot of fun!

I’m a born and bred Canberran and spend a lot of time with my family, friends and my dog Jeff.

Who is the biggest stirrer in the office?

I think that  Tammy would be the biggest stirrer I hear down my end of the office!
