How did you get here? Describe your career history and background that led you to your role at Horizonone.
My career started in the banking industry before moving to the public service, working in HR and systems administration. After taking time off while my children were young, I was keen to get back into the workforce. I applied for a scribing role, and as a result over the next 5 years I worked as a specialist Scribing Consultant. I was then offered the role of Scribing Manager which I enjoyed for a further 6 years. However, HorizonOne had always been on the radar for me, as they had a reputation for excellence and authenticity.
Therefore when the time came that I was looking for a change, they were always at the top of my list.
What does your role involve?
I provide scribing and recruitment services to our clients predominantly within the federal and ACT governments but also within the private sector. I oversee all our scribing consultants and their work; this includes reviewing all scribing reports for campaigns and bulk rounds to ensure consistency and quality.
Another large part of my role involves recruiting, inducting and training all of our scribing consultants. Providing a centralised support network for our team of scribes is really important and it’s very rewarding to see them grow and develop their skills.
What would you say is different about HorizonOne’s approach to Recruitment and Scribing?
We’re innovative and always looking for new ways to do things. HorizonOne are using social media, digital marketing and other platforms in a way I have not seen in the scribing industry before. It’s refreshing and exciting to take this new approach rather than just sticking to what we’ve done in the past.
We’re also very focused on our value proposition. This really drives home the reasons why we do what we do and articulates the way in which we add value through our services. Both HorizonOne and I feel it’s important to focus on ensuring we get the best outcome for our clients, not just ourselves. It’s great to be part of a company that understands and supports you and your motivations.
What do you like best about your role?
The best thing about my job is the knowledge that I’m helping clients by providing a more personal service. I am lucky to receive positive feedback and repeat business from the work that we do, which I get a lot of job satisfaction from. I also love being able to support our scribing team – they become almost like a second family to myself and Lyndal.
Outside of work I love to…..
Well I have two teenage kids… so a lot of my time revolves around them! We are a super sporty family and I love being able to support and attend their various activities. We also have a boat, I love to get out on the water and go water skiing!
Who is the biggest stirrer in the office?
David – the office panda definitely seems to like his desk the most!
