Emma Maude

Team Administrator

Describe your career history and background that led you to your role

I was born in Canberra and have spent most of my life here, apart from a few years in the US and Malaysia when my dad was posted as part of the Public Service. I studied Event and Tourism Management at the University of Canberra, and during that time, I worked part-time in early learning as an Educator and Team Leader for 0 to 2 year olds.

When I finished my degree, I started looking for an admin role that would use the skills I had developed during my studies and as a Team Leader.

I heard about HorizonOne from my friend, Bonnie Ashley, who also works in the People Solutions team at H1. A fun, collaborative and hardworking team is how she described the environment, and she’s not wrong! It was important to me to join an organisation with a positive culture, and this is exactly what my experience has been here at HorizonOne.

What does your role involve?

I work in the People Solutions team coordinating the scribing work for our clients, managing resources and scheduling. My role involves accepting new requests and confirming the Scribe Consultants with the client and entering it into our system.

I’m learning a lot about the complex processes and the big picture of how our scribing team supports our clients. As well the admin side of my role, the interactions with the Scribe Consultants are great, they love a chat!

The years in early learning prepped me with good skills I’ve been able to bring to this role. A strong work ethic, good time management and the ability to adapt my communication style have all been great assets for my position.

What are you most excited about achieving over the next 12 months?

I’m on a learning curve and really enjoying it. I’m becoming more familiar with all of the systems and am excited about mastering my role over the next 12 months. I’m also looking forward to meeting the Scribe Consultants in person at the different events we host.

Outside of work I love to…

I love to play netball. I’m on the UC team and my usual position is Centre. I enjoy the physical intensity as well as flexing my decision-making skills as the player in the middle.

My other love is Indie, my border collie, the adventure seeker. She takes me on walks to the Redhill Nature Reserve close by to our home.

My relaxation time is spent with family and friends lunching and enjoying a glass of wine.

Do you have a claim to fame?

I met Julia Gillard when she was Prime Minister! I have a picture with her in the Prime Minister’s Office. This was a real thrill and has left a lasting impression on me about achieving big things in life.
