Describe your career history and qualifications that led to this role
Born locally in Canberra, I had my professional career start as an office administrator at CIT. During my time there I was not only able to move up through the organisation but also successfully attain a number of professional certifications. Moving on from there, I developed strong experience in Corporate Administration and Office Management working in the financial services industry as well as clinical medicine. I also completed my Arts Degree in Social Sciences.
In more recent years I have really enjoyed and developed skills in Project Management and Marketing which will be an important part of my new role at HorizonOne.
What does your role involve?
Right now I am still in a massive learning curve! A big focus at the moment is trying to soak up as much as I can about the recruitment industry so I am shadowing a number of different people in the office to learn about HorizonOne’s approach to recruitment from all angles.
Moving forward I will be working very closely with the consulting and marketing teams to drive our capacity to not only attract talented candidates but to also maximise their experience with us through targeted engagement and communication channels.
What do you like best about your role?
I really enjoy the fact that I can set myself clear goals, and then see them through to fruition. My role is quite outcomes focussed and it is very satisfying to be able to work towards and then achieve a successful outcome.
I also like the fact that at the core of recruitment, we are really able to help people. Whether that’s by providing insights and advice to someone in need, securing the perfect new role for a candidate or by helping a client find their next superstar, it’s very fulfilling work.
What would you say is different about HorizonOne’s approach to recruitment?
We really focus on the human element.
Speaking from experience, when dealing with other recruitment agencies I always felt a little like a very small grain of sand on a large beach. The consultants I met never seemed particularly interested in our conversations and were certainly not actively engaged with getting to know my motivations and career goals. It all felt very mechanical and impersonal.
HorizonOne’s big difference is that no matter the level of interaction, we focus on treating everyone with care and respect. Far from the sometimes bad reputation of other recruitment agencies, we work to develop long term relationships and make a positive impact on people’s lives.
Who is the biggest stirrer in the office? Got a good example…..?
David for sure. Not necessarily because of his dad jokes (which are actually quite funny at times) but because it’s just so surprising to hear them come from someone like him! He may seem like a mature, professional, Company Director, but let me tell you… when it comes to humour looks can be deceiving!
Outside of work I love to…..
Cook. And then eat! I have an Italian heritage so I love to experiment with traditional Italian recipes and give them a modern twist.
I also love the outdoors and most weekends you’ll find me heading off on an adventure to the snow, the beach, the mountains or pretty much anywhere I can be active and set up a campsite.
But that’s only if I can tear myself away from my three fluffy children; Pippin, Peach & Lana. They are my very lovely and very spoilt bunnies 🙂
