Shift Roster Designer
Our APS client plays a vital role in protecting and ensuring Australia’s economic and environmental security. With over 2,500 staff located in outports around Australia our client is an integral part of our national biosecurity network.
This opportunity will be working directly to the EL2 of the division to enhance their staffing capability and efficiencies. You will have the chance to challenge yourself to a short-term project which will have a positive impact on the outport staff and the division at large. The purpose of this project is to elevate the demand and capacity management and scheduling function to a national view and introduce expertise and effective structures.
This newly created 6-month contract will see you come into the division to use your high level data analysis skills to identify issues in the model currently used to determine rostering needs as well as implementing improvements. The division has a range of employees who work Monday to Friday, 24/7 operational teams as well as casual and part timers.
You will use your problem-solving skills to develop rosters for large and small teams that work in a demanding and fast-paced environment, your duties will include:
- Quantifying improvements in efficiency and resource savings as a result of revised rosters
- Presenting recommendations supported by visualisations using Power BI to the Executive for consideration and endorsement
- Deliver a complex mathematical model that will address the business needs now and in the future
The rosters will identify capacity against forecast demand, and periods of excess capacity that cannot be managed through roster design.
You will be able to work autonomously and remain motivated to produce a polished product without direct oversight. You will have the ability to gain insight of business domains and new data sources, through independent technical exploration and working with business experts.
You can query diverse data sources and conduct data analysis and be flexible with your approach to find a win-win solution to complex issues.
Ideally you will have relevant tertiary qualifications e.g. mathematics, data analytics, organisational design etc. If you have experience working with Power BI that would also be highly desirable. If you have rostering and workforce planning experience that will considered desirable but not crucial.
Due to our client being a federal government department Australian citizenship is required.
$60 – $85 per hour + Super.
