Events and Catering Coordinator
The Canberra Racing Club (CRC) is a community-orientated organisation responsible for thoroughbred horse racing in the ACT. The club conducts 25 race meetings each year including the ACT’s premier races; the Black Opal Stakes and the Canberra Cup.
In addition to the 25 races, CRC hosts a range of events throughout the year including conferences, festivals and corporate development days. Situated right on the corner of Flemington Road and the Federal Highway, CRC is about to embark on an exciting period of growth and development across its 4 major offerings of; racing & the racecourse, sponsorship & marketing, catering & events and CRC memberships.

This is an exciting time for the organisation where you will have the opportunity to work alongside the Chief Operating Officer to be part of a growth and modernisation project, while organising catering and major events including Melbourne Cup and Black Opal Stakes, ensuring events run smoothly and efficiently.
As the Events and Catering Coordinator, you will be responsible for the management and delivery of all functions and events including managing food and beverage operations and services, ensuring client requirements are met and delivered.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Creating and maintaining a positive and innovative food and beverage culture
- Implement procedures to ensure all staff are prepared and properly trained and in food and beverage service
- Manage the front of house food safety and WHS compliance
- Work with the Chief Operating Officer to analyse and refine catering operations
- Management of major events and race day functions to clients requirements
This is a growing side of the CRC business. Currently, over 100 special events are catered for each year and it is the goal of CRC to almost double this figure! As such you’ll see this role develop alongside your career, giving you the chance to move to the next level and see real results for the work you do.
As the Events and Catering Coordinator, you will have solid knowledge and experience in organising events with a strong background in hospitality.
You should be driven by a desire to provide a high level of customer service with the ability to develop and maintain strong stakeholder engagement with a variety of people.
Naturally, this is an active and diverse work environment, where thoroughbred horses are part of the norm. You will also benefit from working on the edge of the city, with free car parking and easy access to the light rail.
You must have an awareness, understanding, and commitment to EEO, Industrial Democracy and WHS principles and practices.
Knowledge of the racing industry is preferred but not essential.
$60-$70K per year plus Super
