POSTED 24th Apr, 2020   REF NO. BBBH11066

EL1 Internal Budgeting

The Organisation:

Our client is a key Commonwealth agency that plays a critical role in a range of high profile issues across Australian policy areas. They are undertaking a range of projects that will provide engaging financial challenges for the management accounting team to solve.

The Opportunity:

Working at an organisation with genuine career progression, you will be offered the opportunity to work with highly competent and capable managers in a large team environment. Outcomes focused individuals who are naturally curious, keen to learn, and eager to make positive change thrive in this context. This agency hires on talent and transferable skills rather than specific APS experience so those coming from a non-government background are welcome and will be integrated in.

The Role:

This role sits with the central finance team but works extensively across the business to engage with relevant stakeholders and to help build key budget models from the ground up and top down. You will need to get to know the business areas and key programs back to front, so that you can produce accurate costings and forecasts underpinned by supported assumptions. The role works at an Assistant Director level and so some staff management may be required.

The Person:

This role will suit a skilled management accountant with extensive practical expertise in budgeting and forecasting in complex business environments. Good accounting system skills and advanced Microsoft Excel are a must. You will demonstrate high level interpersonal skills, excellent communication and the ability to prioritise competing workflows in a rapidly moving context.

This employer values CA/CPA and relevant degree qualifications in their accounting team and will support continued professional development for longer term employees via training, internal rotations, and secondments.

Only Australian citizens will be considered for this role, though a Baseline clearance is not essential on engagement so may suit a strong performer who has decided to move from commercial into the APS.

The Salary/Rate:

$105K – $115K + 15.4% Super OR $70 – $80/hr + 9.5% Super OR salary match for transfers.
