Senior Executive

POSTED 11th May, 2020   REF NO. BBBH10653

Director: ICT Strategy and Delivery

The Organisation:

Our client is a medium sized federal government agency that is creating a new structure and direction. They are working on high profile policies and programs that have a national scope.

They have recently been stood up as a department and are committed to building a team and culture that works flexibly and collaboratively.

The Opportunity:

This interesting role will make use of your managerial, strategic and stakeholder engagement skills.

This agency has enough complexity and moving parts to challenge you, but small enough where you will have the chance to make your mark, and influence delivery and direction without having to deal with multiple layers of bureaucracy and red tape. You will have the support of the CIO/CFO to explore and define the best practice options to improve the efficiency and efficacy of the branch.

This is a chance to ensure the agency gets the Ferrari that you helped scope not just a Barina.

The Role:

This is a vacant newly created role that reports directly to the CIO/CFO, who is looking for an EL2 who can lead by example. In this role relationships and an outcomes focus are critical.

This opportunity has a greenfields feel and will have you managing a range of tasks including:

  • Designing the future strategic direction of the branch in conjunction with the CIO/CFO
  • Managing the shared services relationships in a cooperative yet accountable way. You will be looking at pushing for more value and ensuring services and requests are delivered within appropriate timeframes
  • Ensuring that all project implementations are suitable to your remote employees as well as local
  • Researching and implementing best practice
  • Quality assurance on multiple, concurrent service delivery projects
  • Pressure testing projects to make sure they are delivered as requested.

There will be no staff management to start with as you will be challenged enough setting the strategic direction and building the relationship.

As our client is a federal government agency you must be an Australian citizen to apply.

The Person:

You are a high performing EL2 or management consultant who is ready to challenge what is, in order to help shape and define what could be, to solve the agency’s most important decisions. You thrive in high pressure fast paced environments.

As an EL2 you are ready to increase your circle of influence and ability to get stuff done. For consultants this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for to move “client side”.

You have demonstrated experience in leading engagement with internal business and IT areas to facilitate effective communication between these areas to ensure refinement and prioritisation of business requirements and applicable technological solutions.

You are someone who can drive an agenda hard without breaking people or relationships.
Due to the size of the agency, this is not the right fit if you’re angling for a Band 1 role promotion.

The Salary/Rate:

EL2 as per the EA.

S26 transfers or ISA’s considered for high performing individuals.

The client would also consider a contractor to help design and create the initial ICT strategy.
