APS6 Program/Grants Officers - COVID-19 Assessment Team
Our client is a large federal government department that develops and delivers policies and programs relating to health, aged care and sport. This department is at the forefront of monitoring and responding to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Australia.
You will join a taskforce within the Continuity of Support (CoS) Program Section that has been established to specifically focus on assisting older people with a disability who are particularly vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is a 6-month contract opportunity staring mid-April and continuing through until the 30th October 2020 with possible extension thereafter.
You will be part of a team responsible for implementing a recent policy decision to provide additional support to CoS providers. By conducting grants and program assessments, you will ensure that the additional funding is dispersed appropriately to maximise the efficiency of government spending.
You will perform the following key responsibilities:
- Undertake assessments, exercising sound judgement in the application of program guidelines
- Manage program activities within a grants framework
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure achievement of program objectives
- Report on program outcomes to internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare reports, briefings, ministerial and other correspondence
- Monitor program outcomes and analyse against budget specifications
- Coordinate cross program activities utilising a project management methodology
The ideal candidate will have practical experience implementing the Commonwealth Grants Management Framework within a federal government environment. You will have a proven ability to coordinate complex work, balance multiple competing tasks and deliver within tight timeframes. You will have excellent communication skills, create productive working relationships quickly and have conceptual and analytical thinking skills. As you will be working in a taskforce environment, you must enjoy working under pressure and operate effectively in times of uncertainty.
Although not essential, it will be highly regarded if you have experience working within program or grants management relating to the health sector.
To be eligible for this role, you must be an Australian citizen and be willing to work remotely from home if required.
$55 – $65 per hour + 9.5% super
