APS6 Executive Assistant
This Federal Government Department designs and implements important Australian Government policy and programs which support Australian industry groups and conservation.
Due to maternity leave, there is currently an exciting opportunity for an experienced APS5 to act up at the APS6 level for a period of 6 months on a transfer. Supporting a charismatic and down to earth Deputy Secretary you will have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience to support future career growth and gain demonstrated experience working in an Executive Office.
The Deputy Secretary of this Department manages a high profile portfolio regularly in the media and with topical and current affairs. In order to keep pace, an experienced EA is required and in return, they will be rewarded with a supportive Executive EA network. There are defined processes and a set of standards in place that will make for a smooth transition and handover.
Initially offered for 6 months due to maternity leave, a transfer is expected and salary matching available.
The role will involve:
- Complex workflow and e-mail management – this busy e-mail can get between 200-300 e-mails per day and the Deputy Secretary is reliant of the EA to filter and flag those most urgent
- Calendar management and logistics; booking rooms, coordinating attendees, chasing meeting papers and agendas etc.
- Co-ordinate all aspects of travel; flights, accommodation, allowances etc. fortnightly travel involved
- Manage simple procurement, accounts payable and finance
This role requires someone that has an excellent level of organisation who can work proactively. This Executive needs to be ‘up managed’ and kept on track. A level of intelligence and awareness of the political climate will be required to distinguish between the urgent, critical and business as usual tasks. You will be an experienced EA whose understanding of APS policies and procedures comes quickly and naturally.
A high level of written communication will be required as you will be responding on behalf of the Executive and managing their e-mail inbox.
The position is based in the Executive Office so a level of professionalism and corporate presentation is expected.
Due to security requirements, Australian Citizenship and a current Negative Vetting 1 clearance is required.
$80,000 – $92,000 + 15.4% super will be paid to the successful candidate, pro-rata for a 6 month contract. Salary matching is also available.
