APS6/EL1 Project Officer

Our client is a large federal government department that contributes to Australia’s economic prosperity and social wellbeing by creating opportunities and driving better outcomes for people, through education, skills and employment pathways.

The Opportunity

There is an APS6 or EL1 Project Officer position available for a 12-month Labour-Hire Contract.

You will join the Better Child Care Program who seeks to harmonise regulation and processes and streamline regulatory processes across jurisdictions, eliminating duplication by working in partnership with state and territories.

You will have management of the project end to end and will work closely with Assistant Directors, Directors, stakeholders and business users.

The Role

As an APS6 or EL1 Project Officer you will be responsible for:

  • Lead the management of a website project
  • Develop, review and maintain project artefacts
  • Project Plan, Schedule and other documents as required under Project Management Framework
  • Project Risk, Issues and Change Management
  • Manage project deliverables and stakeholder engagement
  • Provide support and undertake activities to support the Program Officer and Program/Projects Reports and Budget Officer
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures
  • Manage a delivery schedule
  • Manage project deliverables
  • Oversee resolution of issues and provide accurate and timely advice and status information
  • Identify, manage, or escalate risks, issues, dependencies and constraints

Your Background and Experience

The ideal candidate will have government experience and a background in one or more of the following areas: project, stakeholder engagement or program positions

You will also require the following capabilities:

  • Strong project management skills including experience in developing project plans and an understanding of risk management, good governance and reporting and benefits realisation
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills – capability to develop and maintain strong, productive, and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to support the delivery of the project
  • Experience in building relationships and engaging with internal and external government stakeholders and partners
  • Effective time management skills to manage multi-disciplinary type of work

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen
  • Be willing to undergo a police check
  • Hold a Baseline security clearance

Salary / Rate

  • $60 – $68 per hour + 10% super (includes casual loading)
  • 12-month labour-hire opportunity
  • Canberra Location
