APS5/6 Data, Research and Strategic Policy


The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is a key government body that provides much needed funding for health and medical research to benefit the lives of many Australians, as well as people across the world.

Previous grants awarded by NHMRC have gone to health and medical research studies such as skin cancer prevention, Aboriginal health, high blood pressure, and people living with dementia.

The Roles

NHMRC are recruiting for a number of different roles across the agency. Actively contribute to strategic policy, engage stakeholders and work alongside and learn from leading scientific and medical minds. Further develop your specialist government skillset in policy development and support, data and statistical analysis, governance, liaison support and stakeholder engagement.

APS5/6 Strategic Policy Officers

  • Help improve policy outcomes to benefit all Australians
  • Be involved in new and exciting policy development and funding arrangement processes

APS5/6 Data / Statistical Analysts

  • Assist with the design, analysis and delivery of relevant, trusted and objective statistics, solutions and insights
  • Tell the story behind the data in an engaging and meaningful way so NHMRC can make informed and evidence-based decisions

APS5/6 Governance Officers

  • Advise on improvements across the organisation through stakeholder engagement to further develop best practice processes
  • Assist in the development of NHMRC’s governance, strategy planning and reporting frameworks across a range of functions which may include auditing, Freedom of Information and business continuity

APS5/6 Research Officers

  • Assist in the preparation, review and administration of grants, programs and projects
  • Engage business areas and deliver support to administrative, grant, program and project operations

Salary / Rate

  • APS5: $74,814 – $78,962 + 15.4% Super
  • APS6: $82,531 – $93,107 + 15.4% Super
