APS4 / 5 Payroll Officers

Our client is a high-profile Federal Government organisation at the centre of policy development and service delivery. They aim to deliver innovative ways to assist the development and implementation of Government policies as well as providing advice on how to solve the issues facing Australia.

The Opportunity

Multiple opportunities exists for experienced APS4 and APS5 payroll specialists with Aurion experience to work within a high performing team delivering timely and efficient payroll services.

You will have the choice of a non-ongoing or labour hire contract for an initial 6 months with option to extend. Flexible working arrangements are available.

The Role

As the Payroll officer you will be assisting the department with the delivery of payroll services, some of the tasks you’ll work on are:

  • Process a range of tasks related to the delivery of payroll and conditions of service including salary variations, calculation of allowances and final entitlements for staff cessations
  • Understand and apply relevant APS legislation and terms and conditions including the Enterprise Agreement and policy and procedures
  • Maintain payroll data and accurate records to a high standard
  • Provide clear, comprehensive and accurate verbal and/or written advice to stakeholders within appropriate timeframes and effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Complete payroll transactions and related correspondence in accordance with the payroll cycle
  • Monitor and respond to email correspondence to the required standards and timeframes
  • Participate and contribute to the continuous improvement of the payroll team processes and practices

The Ideal Person

To be successful in this role you will have APS experience in payroll functions and systems along with excellent communication skills, sound judgement, commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to work with limited direction. You will also be confident in resolving problems and providing clear, constructive, and timely advice and feedback.

You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and ideally have experience utilising Aurion.

A high degree of professionalism and discretion is required due to the confidential information you will be accessing.

Salary / Rate

  • $70K – $80K per year plus super or
  • $45 – $55 an hour plus super
  • Flexible working conditions
  • 6 Month Contract
