APS5 Procurement and Travel Officer

Manage all aspects of AHL’s vehicle fleet, collate data for annual FBT reporting and undertake quarterly and annual Supply Nation reporting.

Our client, Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL), is a not-for-profit Commonwealth company dedicated to providing culturally safe and affordable accommodation for First Nations people who need to be away from home to access services and economic opportunities. Since 1973, AHL has been committed to improving the quality of life and economic opportunities for First Nations people through a national network of over 40 hostels across Australia.

The Opportunity

There is an opportunity for an APS5 Procurement and Travel Officer to join the Finance Team at AHL. The engagement will be for a 12-month period and is open to both permanent APS employees (via a temporary s26 transfer arrangement) and also to people that aren’t currently permanent in the APS (via a 12-month non-ongoing contract).

As the Procurement and Travel Officer you will manage all aspects of AHL’s vehicle fleet and be the first point of contact for queries in regards to the fleet. You will collate data in relation to AHL’s annual FBT reporting and undertake quarterly and annual Supply Nation reporting.

The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Manage all aspects of AHL’s vehicle fleet including the collation of driver log data and provide assistance and support to staff in relation to all leased vehicle matters. Be the first contact point for fleet queries and provide advice and support to the hostel network on all leased vehicle matters
  • Review, update and maintain on at least an annual basis, the Fleet Policy and Procedures
  • Collate data in relation to AHL’s annual FBT reporting
  • Review, investigate and report on open purchase orders on a monthly basis
  • Undertake quarterly and annual Supply Nation reporting
  • Assist with travel bookings, purchasing cards and contract register
  • Assist with administrative procurement tasks such as coordinating the issuing of RFQ’s to suppliers and compiling responses, coordinating supplier RFQ queries and liaising with business areas for responses 
The Ideal Person

The ideal candidate will have experience in procurement administration and reporting in a government setting. Experience managing a vehicle fleet is highly desirable, but not essential. You’ll also have:

  • A demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel 

To be eligible for this role, you must be an Australian citizen and be willing to undergo a police check.

Salary / Rate
  • $84k – $92k + 15.4% super
  • 12-month engagement via a temporary s26 transfer or non-ongoing contract arrangement
  • Office is located in Phillip, Canberra
