Contractor of the Month for August

Alan Larby and Ryan Cheng

Our Contractor of the Month for August is Ryan Cheng!

*we visited Ryan just before lockdown

Ryan is currently contracting with the Department of Health as a Finance Business Partner.

Ryan joined the Department in January 2020 as an APS6, managing the property budget as well as a number of capital projects. Recently, Ryan was promoted to EL1 (congratulations!) and is now the Finance Business Partner responsible for the various HR, Ministerial, and Learning and Development functions of the corporate team.

Something else that’s very exciting is that Ryan is also supporting the rollout of the New Ways of Working Program, which will be rolled out across all premises that will change workplace design, technology and HR policies. Ryan is working with the project team providing financial advice to set up reporting structures, project codes, modelling costings and scenarios, and build the budget.

Ryan’s manager provided some great feedback, stating that he is “customer service driven which is essential to succeed in his role. He is a very enthusiastic, energetic, and positive person who is always willing to help to get the work done. He has a calm approach when dealing with difficult customers, and always strives to collaborate and work through a solution with the customers. He also brings a sense of humour to the team environment which is always welcomed. Ryan is a very valued team member!”

As a thank you for all his great work, Ryan’s consultant, Alan Larby, visited to present him with a gift (a Coles gift voucher, and a few HorizonOne goodies).

Well done, Ryan, and enjoy your gift!
