How did you get here? Describe your career history and background that led you to your role at Horizonone.

Prior to working in the Recruitment Industry, I was working as an Administration Assistant for an international serviced office company after completing College in 2009. It was my first role out of school and brought out my passion for customer service and working in a dynamic client facing environment. I decided to put those skills to use and joined a large, international recruitment brand where I started as an Associate Consultant and achieved four promotions to reach the level of Section Manager.

What do you believe are the 3 key elements to being successful in recruitment?

  • Being passionate about the difference you’re making to people’s lives on a daily basis – you can’t fake that and if you lose the passion then you’re in the wrong job.
  • Providing a unique, tailor made service to all candidates and clients – everyone has individual requirements so you can never take the same approach twice.
  • Know your market and remain up to date with what might impact your clients – the expertise and knowledge you have is incredibly valuable

What would you say is different about HorizonOne’s approach to recruitment?

HorizonOne’s approach to recruitment is to build a consultative relationship with their clients and candidates.  HorizonOne looks into the science behind candidates by conducting behavioural based interviews and profile assessments on each candidate. We only work with the top 10-15% of candidates in the market and that’s a huge point of difference. We’re not sales people and always take a quality over quantity approach.

What does being a specialist recruiter mean to you?

This relates back to one of the key elements to being successful in recruitment and knowing your market. Being a specialist recruiter to me means knowing your market inside and out.  This requires having a strong understanding of the roles you  specialise in, the clients you provide services to, what local, national or international changes have an impact on the market  and building and maintaining strong networks across your specialism.

What do you like best about your role?

The part I like most about my role would be the impact I can have on a daily basis. This includes my clients, candidates, the H1R team, friends, family and acquaintances. When you’ve built up a network as a Recruiter you really become the go to person for trusted advice in your market and that’s a great feeling.

Who is the biggest stirrer in the office? Got a good example…..?

I can’t pick just one person… I think maybe you need to be a bit of a stirrer to work here!

What is something you do outside of work others would be surprised by?

I am an avid F45 attendee and am frequently up at the ridiculous time of 4:30am for the 5:00am classes!!

I am also one of 7 children! Right in the middle, but it’s not a bad thing. I think it’s given me a great balance and I am also very good at herding cats!
