How did you get here? Describe your career history and background that led you to your role at Horizonone.

I have been working in administration and accounts for the past 20 years.  I established my own administration business whilst in Tanzania, assisting mostly tourism based businesses, often in remote locations, with procurements, travel bookings, accounts and customer services.

Since returning to Australia I have worked in both accounting and administration roles.  I came to HorizonOne looking for a new opportunity, and found my way through the door to the back office!

What is different about working at a recruitment company compared to other organisations you have worked for?

Have to say that working with HorizonOne is a lot more fun than some of my other roles.  We have a Wii in the office and got to spend the day helping the community by participating in Clean up Australia Day, all in my first month!

Working for a recruitment company gives me the opportunity to interact with people and assist in the process of transforming their dreams of their perfect working environment into a reality.

What does your role involve?

Everything and anything!  From payroll, accounts and data entry, to developing an intranet and ensuring that the administration team provides the best quality support to our consultants, candidates and clients.

What do you like best about your role?

The variety involved in the role.  There are no two days the same and I get to work with a supportive team in a fantastic environment.

What would you say is different about HorizonOne’s approach to recruitment and business?

Their commitment to the candidates and clients.   They truly believe that they can make people’s lives better and take the time to find the right fit for both the job seeker and the employer.

Who is the biggest stirrer in the office? Got a good example…..?

Mmm, I am still new to the office so just feeling my way around but would have to say that Wally can add ingredients and David Harrington can stir the pot.

What is something you do outside of work others might be surprised by?

I can’t sit still!  I love to be on the move.   Either participating or instructing spin and boxfit classes or exploring the Canberra and the world with my family, there are never enough hours in the day to fit in all I want to do!
