Senior Commercial Analyst | Drive Change

The Organisation:

This large commercial business with a complex capital intensive operational environment provides high profile services to the regions community. To strengthen the financial analysis team, they are looking for a talent analyst to join the team on a permanent basis.

The Opportunity:

Working as the main point of contact for a broad range of senior level stakeholders, you will have exposure to the key decision makers and be relied on for proactive advice. The complexity of the business and operational environment means this is a rapid learning opportunity and a chance to grow your career. You'll have an experienced manager to lean on in the early days of this position but will soon have the autonomy to conduct independent deep dive analysis. Your advice and commentary will directly lead to meaningful improvements. Offered permanently, you will have the time and visibility to become a keystone component in both the business and financial aspects of the role.

The Role:

Reporting to the Senior Commercial Analyst and a number of key decision makers your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Prepare and monitor business and project budgets across two divisions
  • Provide meaningful, regular and timely reporting and analysis to indicate performance
  • Prepare results, reporting, analysis and commentary on EOM financials
  • Contribute to the preparation of month performance reports including thorough variance analysis
  • Investigate, analyse and remedy unusual items and variances arising in monthly reports
  • Develop forecasts covering revenue, expenses, capital and cash flow
  • Monitor pricing and costing of projects
  • Manage and analyse WIP
  • Ad hoc financial analysis and commentary as required

The Person:

As someone with 2+ years' experience in management accounting, you'll have strong costing skills with high level comparative analysis utilising MS Excel and/or TM1. You will enjoy working in a team environment on projects but also be able to shoulder the load independently when needed. You will be comfortable liaising with stakeholders at all levels and enjoy conveying your ideas and discussing recommendations.

The Salary:

$95K - $120K + Super commensurate with experience
